Why Do People Love Xanax So Much?
Hi! I was just wanting to have some information on this drug, I know nothing and I keep hearing more and more about it. All I know is that it is some kind of anti-anxiety medication am I right? And that it is to be used for short term use, like as a ‘quick fix’ as apposed to something like, say, zoloft which has to be taken everyday and built up in your system.
Lately I have heard of about 6 people, either close to me or friends/ acquaintances that love this drug so much that they try to buy it on the streets. Just out of curiosity, what’s so great about it? Does it make you feel relaxed? High? And, I was wondering what are the dangers of taking this drug more than you are supposed to, or when it has not been prescribed to you? Any honest information and experiences are greatly appreciated, I don’t want to ask my friends and family that do it, I don’t want them to feel judged, and I don’t want to take it myself to find out, lol! I’ve taken it once on an airplane ride that a co-worker gave me. It doesn’t give you a high at all. It affects your mood. It makes you very calm and docile. You have no worries in the world. It doesn’t make you “happy”, it just makes you accept things. I remember feeling kind of drowsy but not sleepy, and thinking that the plane could go down right now and I wouldn’t react to it. It’s a way to stop worrying about life and your problems. That is why people like them so much.
yes, it does make you feel high and euphoric, it also has a tendency to take large chunks of your short term memory with it, so unless there’s something your really trying to forget my advice would be to steer clear of this narc.
Some people don’t enjoy it or find it recreational.
I like it just because I have anxiety and panic attacks.
But I don’t like it when I black out though, I actually HATE it. Which is very easy for me.

Yeah, Xanax (alprazolam) is an anti-anxiety medication. It works for a little while and then you kind of have a “crash,” but not really severe. It does make you relaxed, but not in a high kind of way. I don’t agree that it makes you feel happy, it just relaxes you. Or at least that’s all it does for me in the midst of a panic attack.
It’s a benzodiazepine, so has highly addictive potential and its use it commonly abused. It leads to physical dependence sometimes and has withdrawal symptoms.
Gah. Your friends wouldn’t be so smart to get it off the street because it can be reformed with other chemicals and drugs so that it’s cheaper to make because they need less of the actual alprazolam.
I use Ativan (lorazepam), which is a benzodiazepine as well and have heard of Xanax, but Ativan seems to last longer without such a crash. Heh, of course, I don’t get it off the streets but from a prescription. Fortunately, (and unfortunately in some cases) I have a very high tolerance without trying to build it up, so I don’t feel the effects so much. Probably why I don’t feel happy.

EDIT: I take it for severe panic attacks and that’s how I got my prescription in the first place.
lol I have a 2 year old… seriously I only take one like every couple of months when I get extremely stressed to the point I cant deal. Its almost and instant relief, like I just don’t care anymore type thing. Some people are addicted and take 4 or more times day. that is called abuse. I don’t like to use drugs or alcohol to solve my problems. i try and calmly rationalize them first. it is a small pill that gives you relief from stress and anxiety. some people use them for sleep or if their stress levels are so bad it causes their blood pressure to rise. my grandma needs like one a day to keep her from being stressed and causing a heart attack. it has different purposes, but mostly people use them for the “low”…
Xanax is an anti-anxiety medication. It is to be taken in severe cases of anxiety and at the peak of anxiety attacks. It is an immediate calming sensation. It is incredibly addictive, and people tend to abuse it. The reason is because people get dependent on it and they can’t calm down without it. If you do have a friend who is prescribed it and they are taking too much for their own safety report them to their doctor. I have treated soooo many people with a serious addiction to Xanax, most of the time it leads to abuse of other drugs, one of the most common is Heroin, the other is Meth. It is really hard to get off of and I hope your friends realize that they have a problem before it leads to death.
